Do you have a 1980's GM v8 with an EGR solenoid and need a replacement connector that is now discontinued? Here you go!

This replacement connector was designed specifically to fit into the EGR solenoid of a 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, but will fit into identical EGR solenoids found on other General Motors products from the same era.  On my car, the EGR solenoid valve itself was operational, but the connector in the car's wiring harness was very brittle and falling apart, eventually causing the pins to short and blow the fuse for my ECM.  To my dismay, the connectors in my parts vehicles were in no better shape and the connector appears to be discontinued.  Luckily, this is where 3D printers come in!

Firstly, check that the connector will fit your car's EGR solenoid before going any further.  I can guarantee that they fit properly in mid-1980's carbureted Monte Carlo's, Camaro's, etc. but the solenoid designs did change in later years.

Installation


  • 1. Ensure the pins that fit in the connector are not damaged or bent.  If the locking tab on the pin is bent down too badly, it will not lock in place inside the connector later.
  • 2. Insert the pins as shown below with the pink and black wire on the right of the connector.  Do not mix up the order of the pins or you may have to destroy the connector to remove the wires.
  • 3. Ensure the pins are fully inserted and seated.  They should clip into place inside the connector and be firmly seated, unable to be pulled out and removed.
  • 4. Install your new connector on the EGR solenoid.
